Does Booktower Use AI?
Booktower does not have any AI-related features and there are no plans to add these features in the future.
Since this is a complicated question, we'd like to share some more details about what that means and why we've made this choice:
Our team firmly believes that humans are creative, not machines. We believe that the best stories and art are created by real people using their talents and pursuing their passions. Therefore, we have no interest in supporting generative AI's ability to tell stories or create art.
Whenever you load a Readable into Booktower, we only consume metadata about the work (for example title, author, word/page count, synopsis, etc) - we do not store the stories themselves. Whenever someone wants to read a work that you've added to your Tower, they'll be directed to bookstores, Ao3, Webtoons, and similar sites directly.
This makes Booktower almost useless to AI companies who are trying to build generative story-telling AI since they are primarily interested in the stories themselves. However, we also go a step further by utilizing a service which is intended to block AI scraping bots from accessing our content all together.
In addition, all of the art assets created by the Booktower team are made by real people (who are paid for their work).
Some of the third-party tools/services that Booktower uses have AI features. As you've probably experienced in your own life, many companies are adding these features and it is becoming more-and-more difficult to avoid them. Whenever we select third-party tools/services, we make sure to thoroughly review the company's policies to make sure your data and creative works are protected.
If you have any further questions, please reach out and we'd be happy to clarify.
